Increments of 1/4 in. (0.64 cm) allow fine-tuning the cut height.

Using RIO

CAUTION: Children or bystanders may be injured by rotating blades. Before traveling forward or rearward:

Carefully check the area around the machine.
Disengage the mower before backing up.

NOTE: Backing up while the mower is engaged is strongly discouraged. RIO should be used only when operating another attachment or when the operator deems it necessary to reposition the machine with the mower engaged.

Stop forward travel.
Look behind the machine to be sure there are no bystanders.
Push and hold in the RIO switch while depressing the reverse pedal slightly for a hydrostatic transmission or moving the transmission shift lever to the rear slot (reverse) for a continuously variable transmission (CVT)/automatic transmission.

NOTE: If the engine and mower or other attachment stops while repositioning the machine, return the attachment engagement lever/switch to the off position. Start the engine and engage mower or other attachment. Begin again with step 2.

Release the RIO switch and reposition the machine as the machine begins to move rearward.
Resume forward travel. The mower or other attachment should continue operating.
Repeat procedure to position the machine again.

Every owner of a John riding lawn and garden product is a potential customer for a high-quality, affordable utility cart. Utility carts can be used to haul a variety of materials including firewood, lawn debris, sand, dirt, mulch, garden tools, plants, and bushes.

Utility carts are designed, painted, and decaled to be compatible with other John Deere equipment.

7P Poly Utility Cart

The cart has a premium molded, high-density polyethylene box construction.
Compression molding process allows polyethylene to be the optimum thickness in all areas for superior strength and durability.
Polyethylene body will not rust or dent; it stays looking new longer.
0.75-in. (2-cm) x 2-in. (5-cm) stake pockets are molded in to make the addition of side extensions easy.
Two vertical 0.75-in. (2-cm) molded channels on each side allow easy use of dividers to separate the box into two or three compartments.
Ribs in the box bottom add strength and prevent the shovel from hitting bolts when emptying the cart.
Sloped tailgate design makes emptying the box easier; there is no tailgate to loosen or remove.

The 17-cu-ft (0.48-m³) capacity 16YS Swivel Cart is unique in the lineup of John Deere carts in that it can be swiveled 120 degrees to either side for easier unloading. The operator can simply pull up next to where they want to dump the material and swivel the cart, eliminating the need to back up the cart.

Cart has premium molded polypropylene box construction.

0.75- x 2-in. (19- x 51-mm) stake pockets are molded in to make addition of side extensions easy.
Two vertical 0.75-in. (19-mm) molded channels on each side allow for easy use of dividers to separate the box into two or three compartments.
Ribs in box bottom add strength and prevent a shovel from hitting bolts when emptying the cart.
Sloped tailgate design makes emptying the box easier; no tailgate to loosen or remove.

6.5-bu (229-L) rear bagger

The hopper design provides efficient bagging performance, clean operation, and easy-to-empty bags:

Two durable bags with a generous, 6.5-bu (229-L) capacity lift out for emptying and are easy to reinstall.
Efficient lower chute provides smooth flow of material to reduce chance of plugging.
Air-exhaust duct directs air from the hopper back and toward the ground for clean operation.
Convenient bungee-cord fastener makes opening and closing the hopper easy.
It is easy to install and remove the hopper, and no tools are required after the initial installation.
Pins and spring clips hold the hopper and chute in place; there is nothing left to interfere with other attachments when removed.
Loose-knit bags allow more air to flow through to provide complete bag filling in wet and heavy grass conditions.

Tractor compatibility and requirements

The 6.5-bu (229-L) rear bagger is compatible with:

100 Series Tractors equipped with 48-in. (122-cm) Mower Deck.

Requirements and/or recommendations:

Front ballast is recommended when bagging, especially on hills or inclines.
Use of rear tow-behind attachments that could come in contact with the hopper assembly is not recommended when the hopper assembly is installed.
Special mower blades are not required.

High-lift mower blades for use in difficult bagging conditions are included with BG20777 6.5-bu (229-L) hopper and chute for 100 Series, 48 in. (122 cm).

34-lb (15.4-kg) front wheel weight

A durable cast-iron weight can be mounted to each front wheel.

These weights are recommended for use when operating on slopes, especially when the tractor is equipped with a rear grass bagger or other rear-mounted equipment.

Each weight requires BM17978 mounting hardware.

Rear weight bracket

The rear suitcase weight provides extra ballast that is needed to reduce wheel slippage and increase snow-removal capability.

The rear weight bracket provides a tractor-mounted bracket for hanging two weights:

BG20627 replaces BG20022 and BG20499 rear weight brackets.
Clearance is provided for the carbon canister that is required on tractors sold in California.
BG20627 can be used in all applications where BG20022 and BG20499 were used.

Hardware is required for installing each front-wheel weight.

Requirements:

Mounting may require drilling two holes in the wheel rim.
BM17978 mounting hardware kit is required for each weight.

NOTE: Front-wheel weights are not available for special edition tractors because the styled front-wheel design does not have appropriate holes for mounting the wheel weights and no adapter is available.
